Almost one hundred years ago the Marine Corps finally allowed women to enlist for clerical duties that took place on Marine Corps Reservations in the states. Since then women have worked hard to change the responsibilities that the Marine Corps allows them to have. Great leaders such as Opha Mae Johnson, Ruth Cheney Streeter, Barbara J. Dulinsky, Geraldine M. Moran, and Melody Naatz have helped create the legacy of incorporating women in the Marines. This research is found through many websites and books that provide information of dates and well-known women leaders who helped create this legacy. These women have proved to many that they have what it takes to achieve greater positions in the Marine Corps. Each woman took one step further in evolving the opportunities for woman in the future. Without these great leaders, women today would not be able to accomplish as much as they can in the Marine Corps. Over the years women have come together to push the legacy on and hopefully the legacy will keep going for many years to come.
